"Many years ago, when I visited the little ghost town of Central Mine in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Upper Michigan, I was "shown" two of the very old houses still standing. Someone said that an elopement had taken place from one of the houses 'way back in the '80's. I learned none of the details. My imagination began to work and this story is the result. It could have happened this way, but it is entirely fictitious. Any resemblance to the actual fact is purely coincidental. Even the house is not the same one. Places and all other particulars are as they were in those days."
